Work Remotely at 211 LA!  Since 1981, 211 LA  has been a non-profit leader engaging vulnerable populations and making critical service connections, 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. We work in close collaboration with government and other community-based organizations and design and create the technology that enables us to do this reliably and securely.  211 LA is a trusted source of information supporting over 500,000 requests for service from residents throughout Los Angeles County.


211 LA is looking for an energetic, dynamic, innovative, creative and personable individual who is highly involved and passionate about the exciting world of communications! The part-time Temporary Communications Associate will work closely and report to the Social Media Communications Manager to aid in telling 211 LA’s story through content creation, digital communication, public relations, and marketing outreach.


Additionally, the part-time Temporary Communications Associate support communication initiatives to secure client stories, promote impact, ensure consistent branding and voice, and create high-quality, compelling content for various channels, including website, social media, annual reports, presentations, videos, and other publications.


POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Draft content and schedule posts for 211 LA social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
  • Identify new ways to reach 211 LA’s external audience via social media, digital advertising, and our website (211LA.org).
  • Strategize new topics and write engaging stories for the website and newsletter.
  • Assist in content development of 211 LA’s website.
  • Support internal communications initiatives by writing and publishing content for various communications initiatives. 


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support in developing and executing direct client presentations.
  • Assist in the development and execution of branded materials, as needed.
  • Participate in the development and execution of direct marketing campaigns
  • Assist with the production and management of collateral for communications, events, and development campaigns and deliverables
  • Assist with social media strategy, website maintenance and development, and media strategy.
  • When asked, take the lead on communications and marketing projects and campaigns, including marketing emails, facts sheets, copywriting, and more.
  • Help develop, write, and edit relevant content for all traditional and digital outlets.
  • Work with internal and external resources to facilitate the development of communication mediums.
  • Regularly meet with internal program staff to understand communication needs, develop solutions and provide feedback.
  • Take responsibility for initializing, developing, executing, and measuring all assigned tasks.
  • Actively solicit involvement of key stakeholders in the development of projects.
  • Practice professionalism and accountability as it relates to all assigned duties
  • Utilize continuous improvement methods to explore new ideas and methods
  • Assist in marketing and outreach performance measurement and build in metrics to facilitate ongoing review and measurement of the effectiveness of efforts.
  • Assist in tracking social media post-performance and create an impact report for program grantee needs.
  • Perform other duties and assignments in accordance with established Agency mission and values.     


REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications or Marketing from an accredited college or university or work experience equivalent to.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a similar role
  • Ability to operate effectively as a self-starter and participate in a team-oriented and collaborative environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be organized and place importance on project ownership, and attention to detail, and can handle a quick-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of social media data analytics reporting.
  • Knowledge of Hootsuite and Canva is a big plus!
  • Knowledge of a content management system (like Adobe) is a plus!
  • Proficient in using Google Suite products like Slides, Docs, and Sheets.
  • Ability to handle multiple requests and prioritize effectively
  • Must be proficient in social media management and content creation: Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram. 
  • Proficiency or familiarity with Drupal website content management is a plus!
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated ability to produce timely and impactful content for publications and deliverables
  • Must be a detail-oriented self-starter; process-driven with the ability to multi-task
  • Strong computer and technology skills

You must have:

  • Solid internet connection (50 Mbps)
  • Quiet space without distractions
  • Must be able to work independently and get the job done


COMPENSATION RANGE:

Salary is commensurate with prior experience, education, and abilities.  


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

As a 211 LA part-time Temporary Communications Associate you will be regularly required to work at a desk, conference table and work at a computer for extended periods of time. You will be frequently required to walk and sit and occasionally required to stand. You will be regularly required to work in an indoor climate controlled environment with moderate noise levels. You will be occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 15 pounds unassisted. You may be occasionally required to drive to locations to attend meetings.
